It is SO hard to find youth gloves that have long cuffs (WHY?!). I got really tired of helping my 7 year old skier pull his jacket over his mittens again and again so when his last pair finally wore out, I gave these a shot even though I generally don't like to pay this much for their gear that they blow through in a season or two. He's used these about half a dozen times on the slopes and I'm really happy with them and so is he. His hands seem to stay warm (most important) and they are a ton easier to get on and off. They do not have individual fingers inside the mittens like some which he prefers and the leashes are removeable if you don't care for them. I'll re-review if we have any issues with these, but right now I'm saying they were worth the cost.We ordered a small for our 7 year old daughter. Fit is perfect with some room to grow. Will definitely get a few years use out of them. Our daughter is tall for her age, just as a size reference. Will be using them next weekend. I will update review after she uses themThe weather was terrible. 31° at the base. It was blowing and dumping very heavy, very wet snow. Might as well of been raining. After ski lessons and about 4 hours on the mountain, her gloves felt soaked. We took them off and her hands were WARM and DRY! Exactly what I paid for!!!These worked great and kept my son’s hands dry and warm during a 4 day ski trip with below freezing temps. He’s not an advanced skier so he fell numerous times and never complained about his hands. I’m glad I paid a little extra for these name brand gloves compared to some others. My son has fine motor skills delays and is unable to put on five fingered gloves independently. He wants to have cool gloves that are in style that he doesn't have to ask for help putting on. These are perfect. The long snowboarding style keeps the snow out and doesn't leave any exposed skin. With black and a neon camo print, they can go with any coat or snow suit color. It was hard to know what size to order, so we went with an XL to be safe. They are big on him, but not so big he will have issues with them. He'll be able to get more than a season or two out of them. He's an average sized 9 yr old; wears a 12 in clothes. The greatest comfortable, dry, functional mittens for all temps. The elastic wrist straps (not shown) let them dangle when kids remove them and keep them from falling off the lift or getting lost in the lodge and the hand warmer pockets are a must (or hand warmers fall out). The insulation is light (i.e. not bulky!), so on a typical day in the northeast we always use hand warmers, two per mitten when it's really cold, and on single digit days, we add mitten liners too. Note the fabric is not the sturdiest, but I can live with replacing them as they wear out at the seams after a season (about 50 days of use). We've been buying them over and over for five years now. 10 year old wears large, 7 year old wears medium. A bonus: the garish colors mean we've never lost one.High performance gore tex mountaineering mittens for adults all have something called a wrist leash, so that you can take your gloves off and they won't fall to the ground. Inexplicably, most children's mittens don't have this feature (anyone could realize that children need this even more than adults). We went through several brands of adult XS mittens (north face, MTN hardwear, hestra) but none worked for my 9 year old daughter. TNF mittens all have finger sleeves. MTN hardwear and hestra XS is too large. These Burton mitts have all the functionality of an adult mountaineering mitt but in children's sizes. Especially the wrist leash! My daughter loves these mitts. North-east ski conditions change dramatically and these mitts are great for very cold and warmer days. With one of those chemical warmer pouches slipped in the zipper pocket she charged all day at 10 below and with the zipper pocket opened she slogged through the 50 degree rain (in the same week). They have the zipper pocket, long gauntlets that cover the jacket sleeve, and wrist leashes so we don't leave them behind. My son now has a pair and my wife bought the similar adult version.Too large for a 10 year old boy at the 5th percentile of his growth curve. Either way, kept his hands pretty warm but the extra pocket didn't particularly keep his hands that much warmer. The hand warmers helped more when placed inside the mitt with the hands. Yeah, they don't recommend it but when it's freezing outside, hard not to do that. Getting the gloves without the extra pocket wouldn't be too much of an issue. Mitts are So much better than gloves.Love it.Super cute
