I like good quality. Leather shoes. Took a risk on these back in December '10 by just ordering them, as they seemed to fit all I was looking for in a cute, leather shoe. After VERY little wear, the back sole on one of the heels split terribly, making them unusable. Still cute, but overall dysfunctional and left me questioning the quality of the rubber soul. After a very long process of trying to actually get in contact with the company (believe me it was starting to get ridiculous), I was left with this cheerful, but really unsympathetic or beneficial reply:Good afternoon Betsy,Thank you for choosing Spring Step shoes!I would like to begin with my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you. And I don't feel valued I promise. Hardly wore them in those two years (lived in my Chacos 70% of the time and pregnant the rest with well you know, pregno feet). Poor sole design. Don't recommend them for the product or their customer service. But yes, they are cute...still.I really should let go and put them in the trash, maybe I could find a cobbler willing to experiment?Buy a different well-known brand if you are looking for good quality. I should have.I bought these thinking they were similar in quality to the NAOT Matai shoe. In the picture, they show the same patterns, etc, however these are a knock-off copycat shoe. The soles are stiff and the angle of the cut out is uncomfortable. I am going to pay the extra money for the real deal. Do not buy these if you think they are going to be anywhere comparable to that shoe. I am in the process of returning these. Additionally, there is no phone number for customer service for this company....Darling shoes, and I am keeping them, but the size 42 is a bit short for me, as I seem to now be a full size 11. However, I purchased 2 other pairs, of the Cosmic style, same size, and they fit perfectly, so there you go.....This flat is just like wearing a lightweight glove! It has just the right sturdiness without looking or feeling "clunky". I especially like the subtle shades and swirl of brown leather that make up this shoe, a really fine aesthetic balance! Only problem I had with this shoe is that I found that it runs "short", and had to exchange for a larger size. But once the correct fit, now it is truly a walking dream to wear, especially when on my feet for 8 hrs straight.The inner edge of the shoe is very straight- usually shoes flare wider on the inner edge as you go from the arch to the toe area. These shoes are pretty much straight up the inner edge so my big toe felt very cramped. These shoes are just not shaped like feet. Also the image looks like a nice contrast between the brown and black leather; in real life they are more of a uniform brown, not as pretty.These are the most comfortable shoes! I had a pair of these (in red) that I purchased about 3 years ago and have worn them out, they were a size 37. I ordered these brown ones in a 37 and had to return them because they were just too tight, and reordered a size 38, which fit perfectly.My favorite pair of shoes until my dog ate them. I'm taking them to a shoe repair store to see if they can be fixed. If the answer is "no" then I'll be purchasing another pair exactly like these! The size runs true.These shoes not only are a great fit, but they are also very comfortable and attractive. I'm handicapped, so I really appreciate the ease with which they can be secured with the velcro strap.
